Aldrans

Aldrans is a municipality with 2315 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Innsbruck Land of the federal state of Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Innsbruck.

Geography

Aldrans located southeast adjacent to a low mountain range in Innsbruck. The name comes from the old " Allrainer Veld ", which was mentioned in 1312 as " Alrains " in a document.

Aldrans has by its proximity to Innsbruck mainly the function of a living community. On the outskirts tram line 6 leads past a stop, more important for the public transport infrastructure but are regional buses of the Central Mountains.

History

Excavations at Aldrans occupy a settlement already in the Late Bronze Age. It also iron objects from the La Tène period and a Lombard hoard of coins have been found, suggesting a persistent colonization.

The scattered village spreads out on a terrace landscape. A village fire in 1893 destroyed almost completely the entire building structure. On the outskirts of Aldrans a medium-wave transmitter for radio broadcasts in 1927 erected. This system was later converted into a short- wave transmitter and 1984 dismantled.

Policy

The last mayor elections took place simultaneously with the local elections on March 14, 2010.

Adolf Donne Miller was elected mayor and Gerhard iron leader to the Vice mayor.
