Sonja Oberem

Sonja Upper ( born February 24, 1973 in Reydt as Sonja Krolik ) is a former German triathlete and long distance runner.

Career

Triathlon to 1994

Sonja Kroliks athletic career started in triathlon, in which they (1993 and 1994) was three times Junior World Champion ( 1990-1992 ), twice European champion (1992 and 1994) and two German champion.

Marathon 1995

Then focused on the sport of running and qualified for the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995, where she was eighth in the marathon. In the same competition in 2001, she was fifth at the 1997 World Championships in Athens Seventh, at the 1999 World Championships in Seville and sixth at the World Championships.

In a marathon of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, she took eighth place. In 2001, she turned on her personal best when she won the Hamburg Marathon in 2:26:13 hours. That same year she also won the Athens Marathon. Both runs they could win the following year. She also won the bronze medal at the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002. In 2004, she finished third at the Vienna City Marathon and the Berlin Marathon. Then she announced her departure from competitive sports and was in the following year a son. In 2006, she attempted a comeback at the Berlin Marathon, but had to abandon the race due to injury. In 2007 she won the Nürburgring race.

Functionary from 2011

In December 2011 she was elected president of the North Rhine -Westphalian Triathlon Association ( NRWTV ). So she stands in front of the largest regional association of the German Triathlon Union ( DTU).
