Lommel is a city in the Flanders region in Belgium with 33,409 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). Lommel belongs to the province (administrative district ) of Limburg.

The city is located south of Eindhoven, directly on the border with the Netherlands. Lommel Lommel is the site of the military cemetery, the largest German military cemetery from World War II in Europe.

Bus accident in 2012

On March 13, 2012 21:15 clock in a tunnel section of the A9 Sierre in a bus accident in which 22 children and 6 adults died, including 15 children and 2 coaches from the municipal primary school 't Stekske in Lommel Colony 7 occurred, students and 2 supervisors from the St. Lambert School in Heverlee and 2 bus drivers. On 21 March 2012, the funeral service was held in the sports hall.
