Neerpelt is a municipality in the Flemish region in Belgium with 16,686 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). Neerpelt belongs to the province (administrative district ) of Limburg. The village borders on the Netherlands and is located approximately 25 km south of Eindhoven.

Dommel

Neerpelt is the neighboring Overpelt separated from the Dommel River, a tributary of the Meuse. The river flows through the town center.

European Music Festival for Young People

In Neerpelt since 1953 every year there is a renowned competition for youth choirs and orchestra. This European Music Festival for Young People, in which participate many German groups, dedicated to the alternating vocal and instrumental ensembles.

Operation Market Garden

In September 1944 Neerpelt was, together with the adjacent Lommel and Overpelt, starting location for the land forces of Operation Market Garden after the conquest of the bridge Joe 's Bridge in Lommel.
