Alkene ( Limburg: Alleke ) is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 11,315 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012).

Hasselt is located six kilometers north, 15 kilometers south of Tongeren, Maastricht, 25 km east, 36 km southeast of Liège and Brussels, about 65 kilometers west of alkene.

The next highway exits are located in the north near Hasselt on the A13 / E 313 The community has a regional railway station on the railway line Namur -alkene -Hasselt - Eindhoven, others are located in Sint- Truiden, Hasselt, Tongeren and Blizen.
