Peer is a city in the Flanders region of Belgium. It belongs to the province (administrative district ) Limburg, situated about 80 km west of Mönchengladbach. In the district Wauberg the Dommel, a tributary of the Meuse rises.

Pieter Brueghel

The district Grote Brogel - is mentioned as one of the possible birthplaces of the Flemish painter Pieter Brueghel. Brueghel should have been born in the village not far from Brueghel Brede or Breda. Grote - Brogel was and is still pronounced locally as Brögel; Brede and Breda are old spellings of the neighboring town of Bree.

Kleine- Brogel airbase

In the district of Kleine- Brogel is the military airfield of Kleine Brogel Belgian air forces and a NATO base with American military. Once a year a " Spotterday " is aligned on the grounds of the base to which the base is open for visitors.

Blues Festival

Since 1985 takes place in peer every year in July a Rhythm and Blues festival.
