Kortessem ( Limburg: Kotsoeve ) is a municipality in the Belgian province of Limburg near Hasselt. Since the local government reform (1 January 1977), the community consists of six districts Kortessem, Wintershoven, Guigoven, Vliermaal, Vliermaalroot and Zammelen. The municipality has 8,400 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012).

Attractions

  • In the castle park next to the Cultural Mozaïek grows the biggest sequoia in Belgian Limburg.

  • At the municipal border with waves is the " Onzelieveherenboom " a thousand year old oak tree.
