Nieuwerkerken ( Limburg: Noërekirke ) is a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish region with 6691 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). It consists of the main town and the Ortsteilein Binderveld, Kozen and Wijer.

Sint- Truiden is located four kilometers to the south, Hasselt twelve kilometers north-west, 36 km southeast of Liège and Brussels, about 57 kilometers to the west.
