Souboz
Souboz is a municipality in the administrative district in the canton of Bern Bernese Jura in Switzerland. wipe the communities Châtelat, Monible, Sornetan and Souboz a fusion project has been initialized. As a new community name Petit -Val is specified.
Geography
Souboz is located at 875 m above sea level. M., 10 km west of the town Moutier (air line). The village street lines extend to the crest of a rise extending that slopes to the west, in the eastern part of the basin Petit Val, which is located between two anticlines of the Jura.
The area of 10.6 km ² large municipality area includes the entire eastern part of the Petit Val, which is drained by the creek Tchaïbez to Sorne. The northern border runs along the crest of the Jura chain, which forms the western continuation of the Montagne de Moutier. The highest elevations are here Sur la Chèvre ( 1,134 m above sea level. M. ) and Sur le Rochet ( 1'062 m above sea level. M. ). This chain is broken in the west of the typical Jura transverse valley Gorges de Pichoux, heard their upper eastern side of the valley to Souboz. To Souboz the hamlet of Les Ecorcheresses include ( 913 m above sea level. M. ) on a Synklinalpass between the chains of Moron and the Montagne de Moutier, as well as several individual farms. Neighboring communities of Souboz are Sornetan, Saules, Loveresse, Pontenet, Malleray, Champoz and Moutier in the canton of Bern and Soulce and Undervelier in the canton of Jura.
Population
With 135 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Souboz one of the small communities of the Bernese Jura. Of the 73.0 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking and 26.1 % 0.9 % portugiesischsprachig (as of 2000). The population of Souboz amounted in 1850 to 200 residents in 1920 to 236 inhabitants. Since then, a striking Bevölkerungsrückung was reported by approximately 50 %.
Economy
Souboz is still predominantly shaped by the farming village, where dairy farming and cattle raising predominate. Smaller companies are located in the valley that separates Souboz of Sornetan and at the upper entrance to the Pichoux Gorge.
Traffic
The community is located off the major thoroughfares on the main road that leads from Moutier to Bellelay. Souboz and Les Ecorcheresses are connected by a postal car course, which runs from Moutier to Souboz, to the network of public transport.
History
The first mention of Souboz was 1398. At that time the village was a fief of the monastery of Moutier - Grandval. The place name derives from Sous le Bois from (under the Forest). From 1797 to 1815 Souboz belonged to France and was initially part of the Département du Mont- Terrible, which was connected to the 1800 Haut -Rhin. By the decision of the Congress of Vienna, the place came in 1815 to the canton of Bern to the district of Moutier.
Attractions
The site of Souboz is characterized by many typical farmhouses and memory from the 17th to the 19th century. The schoolhouse with a bell tower dates from 1854. Souboz does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Sornetan.
