Geography

Population

History

The first mention of Souboz was 1398. At that time the village was a fief of the monastery of Moutier - Grandval. The place name derives from Sous le Bois from (under the Forest). From 1797 to 1815 Souboz belonged to France and was initially part of the Département du Mont- Terrible, which was connected to the 1800 Haut -Rhin. By the decision of the Congress of Vienna, the place came in 1815 to the canton of Bern to the district of Moutier.

Attractions

The site of Souboz is characterized by many typical farmhouses and memory from the 17th to the 19th century. The schoolhouse with a bell tower dates from 1854. Souboz does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Sornetan.
