Sousse Governorate

The governorate of Sousse (Arabic ولاية سوسة, DMG Wilaya SUSA ) is one of 24 provinces in Tunisia. It is in the northwest of the country, on the Mediterranean coast and covers an area of ​​2669 km ². The Nachbargouvernements are Nabeul in the north, Zaghouan the northwest, Kairouan Governorate Monastir in the southwest and the southeast. From Mahdia Governorate in the south of Sousse is separated by a lake. The population is 622 100. The capital of the province also called Sousse.

Economy

In agriculture, 153 000 people are employed. The main production item is cereals ( 230,000 t / year ), followed by olive oil ( 60,000 t) and vegetables, especially tomatoes ( 54,000 t). In the industry, especially the textile industry, about 44,500 people are employed. Industrial sites are provided for 226 ha. The services sector represents about 40,000 hotels in 115 beds available.
