Kasserine Governorate

Kasserine, Arabic ولاية القصرين, DMG Wilāyat al - Qaṣrain, is one of the 24 governorates in Tunisia. It lies in the west of the country on the border with Algeria on the edge of the Sahel. The region covers an area of ​​8260 km ² and has a population of 437 200. The capital is also called Kasserine.

Culture

In the area of ​​the biosphere reserve governorates Djebel Chambi is the highest mountain in Tunisia ( Jebel Chambi, 1544 m), in which the proportion of forest is very high and where many wild animals live, such as wild boar, partridge, hare, fox and jackal. The area is traversed by the river Oued Derb on which the remains of the Roman Kasserine dam lie.
