South Coast AVA

South Coast AVA ( recognized since 21 November 1985) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is located in the western, coastal part of the three administrative regions of Los Angeles County, Orange County and San Diego County between the cities of Los Angeles to the north and San Diego to the Mexican border in the south. This large area was divided into a number of smaller sub-regions in order to take account of the terroir thoughts. The common denominator of all sub-regions, however, is that the hot climate is temperate due to the coast near the Pacific Ocean.

In the three American Viticultural Area South Coast, Central Coast AVA and North Coast AVA all coastal wine regions of California are summarized.
