SSVg Velbert

The SSVg Velbert 02 ( Sports and Game Association Velbert 1902) is a sports club from the Lower Berg Velbert. The club colors are blue and white. The first men's team plays in football since the 2012/13 season in the fourth division Regionalliga West. In addition to the football department since 1978, there is a gymnastics department, and since 2008 a cycling department with currently 20 assets.

History

On March 23, 1902, the Velberter FC was founded in 1902. This 1914 joined the BV Olympia 1906 Velbert. After the merger with the TV in 1864 Velbert in 1919, the club TSV 1864 Velbert said. After only two years, the club split up again and there was next to the SSV Velbert 12 and the 1864 TV Velbert football club Velbert 02 This merged on 26 September 1933, the BV 1907 Velbert (founded on June 9, 1907) to VfB 02/ 07 Velbert.

The club played in the league from 1922 class, and from 1934 in the district league, which at that time second division in German football.

Leagues football history

The joining of forces bore fruit and the Football Men came in 1969, the rise in the Regionalliga West, the then second highest league. After only one season, however, was 1970, the relegated again. As from 1963 to 1969 is also played to 1978 in third-rate amateur league Lower Rhine. Until 1975, one had to always keep in the squares 3-5, the last three years, it was concluded, however, from the 14th, 10th and last in 12th. This one failed to qualify for the formed by merging several amateur leagues new Amateur Oberliga Nordrhein and was graduated in the Viertklassigkeit. This class was held until the descent in the 1984/85 season but what followed the direct re- ascent.

In the seasons 1989/90 and 1990/ 91, the SSVg increased from twice in succession and found himself in the district league, but from which it rose again in the next year. In the years following, the finances were consolidated so that the SSVg is now debt-free and without conditions would get the license for the Regional. In the season 1996/97 and in the following season they narrowly failed in the promotion round to the fifth division. In the 1999/2000 season then reached the summit in the Oberliga Nordrhein. At the end of the season 2003 /04 was the SSVg master, but in the Regionalliga Nord Table Second Fortuna Dusseldorf rose because Velbert had not reported for the higher league, because she was only fifth at the end of the first round and had twelve points behind. In the season 2007/08 went for the SSVg order to qualify for the new fourth division Regionalliga West, which was introduced by the reform league for the season 2008/ 09. Already on October 6, 2008 Field Hoff came back as coach of the SSVg. He was succeeded in November 2008 at the former pro Peter Kunkel.

About half a year later, Marek Lesniak took the place of said failed Kunkel as a coach. On March 29, 2010 Lesniak resigned as coach and Tino Reuchert took over " until further notice" as coach. New coach was then the former professional footballer, Frank Schulz, who had previously coached the league rivals Westfalia Herne.

In the resolved with end season 2011/12 decision by the association NRW-Liga in 2012 they finished in fourth place, resulting in two playoff games for the promotion to the Regionalliga West against the table first of the sechstklassigen Westphalia league, the SV Lippstadt 08 legitimate. Cup Football History

The club won the 2003 Niederrhein Cup with a 1-0 victory against Fortuna Dusseldorf and thus qualified for the main round of the DFB Cup 2003/04. After Velbert had surprisingly retained in the first round against the second division 1 FSV Mainz 05 5-3 on penalties after the upper hand, left the team in the second round only slightly against SSV Jahn Regensburg ( 1:2 after extra time ) from.

Stadium

Until 1969 it was the pitch on Wasserturmhochaus. After the climb, in the Regionalliga West they departed for the first seven games of the season in the 10,000-seat stadium in Ratingen. On 5 October 1969, the club inaugurated the stadium on a sunflower with a capacity of 13,000 spectators. The record attendance is recorded already after two weeks on 19th October 1969 12,000 spectators during the game against the Wuppertal SV. For security reasons, the capacity was initially limited to 6,500 people. With the conversion of a standing terrace in a üverdachte seat grandstand, the capacity dropped to 4,702 spectators. For the future, it was planned to build a pure football stadium near the A535, which provide 4.000 standing and approximately 1,300 covered seats and the audience should be expandable up to a maximum capacity of 10,000 spectators.
