Staatskapelle Halle

The Staatskapelle Halle is a symphony orchestra and orchestra of Opera and Ballet in Halle an der Saale. With about 150 musicians, it is one of the biggest orchestras in Germany.

History

City, Court and University Orchestra

Since the establishment of the court orchestra Duke August of Saxony in 1654, the tradition of minstrels lost its importance. 1789 Hyntzsche hautboists - Compagnie and the Town Musicians were merged. Johann Christoph Wansleben city was music director and became chairman of the Combinierten Town Musicians Society. In 1700 a theater ban was enforced by the Prussian King. Since 1779 concert series were launched under the direction of Daniel Gottlob Turk. Johann Christian Reil in 1809 opened the Saltwater Wittekind. From 1811 to 1828 the Weimar court orchestra played in the school church. 1833, the city of music was reorganized under Georg Schmidt. The chapel was enlarged and renamed City Music Corps. It played both mountain concerts and operas. From the City Music Corps was established in 1852, which consists of 30 musicians Hallische City Orchestra. William Hall, there were 1881 names the city and theater orchestra.

Theatre and opera orchestras

1897 Max Richards was theater director. He founded one consisting of 17 musicians City Theatre Orchestra. In 1907 he founded the Halle Orchestra Association. Halle's music scene witnessed under Edward Moerike a heyday and eminent conductors were hired as Arthur Nikisch, Felix Mottl, Richard Strauss, Siegfried Wagner and Felix Weingartner. The Orchestra Association was disbanded despite the successes in 1910 again. 1925, the game mode was maintained by inviting other German orchestras. 1934, the Municipal Theatre Orchestra was renamed the Municipal Orchestra conducted by Bruno Vondenhoff, the first music director. On March 31, 1945, the theater was destroyed. 1948, the National Theatre was founded in Saxony-Anhalt. The new artistic director Horst- Tanu Margraf was responsible for the Handel care. The orchestra was awarded in 1957 the name of the Handel Festival Orchestra. Kurt Masur, Klaus Tennstedt and Olaf Koch had held the position of Kapellmeister in the following years. The conductor Thomas Sanderling and Volker Rohde continued the Handel tradition. At the concerts were, inter alia, Klaus Tennstedt, Heinz Bongartz, André Rieu senior, Kurt Masur, David and Igor Oistrakh, Wilhelm Kempff, Emil Gilels, Gidon Kremer, Ruggiero Ricci and Vladimir Spivakov guest. In 1972, the State Light Orchestra was taken over by the National Theatre. Christian was Kluttig 1979-1990 Music Director. In 1990 came the merger of the Handel Festival Orchestra with the entertainment orchestra. It was followed by the director Wolfgang Balzer, Johan M. Arnell and Roger Epple.

Symphonic Orchestra and Philharmonic

In 1946, Arthur founded the Bohnhardt Hallische people Symphony Orchestra (later Symphony Orchestra ). He ran it until the falling out with the then policy and his emigration to West Berlin in 1949. Former Music Director of the State Theatre in Hall Walter Schartner took his place. On September 19, 1949, the right concert was held with 52 musicians. 1950 moved the conductor Heinz Hofmann provisionally in the office, as his predecessor moved to the Weimar Academy of Music. A little later, Werner Gößling was director of the orchestra. It has now been increased to 64 musicians. 1954, the orchestra was renamed National Symphony Orchestra Hall. Horst Förster initiated since 1956 a phase of international recognition. In the 1000 year anniversary of the city hall in 1961 the Symphony Orchestra held the gala concert. 1967 Olaf Koch was Chief Conductor. After the reunification of the state of Saxony -Anhalt took over the sovereignty of the cultural policy. Heribert Beissel took over the artistic direction. He was succeeded by Bernhard Klee, Wolf -Dieter Hauschild and Heribert Esser.

The orchestra goes on tour and keeps guest performances, including in the Salzburger Festspielhaus, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Berlin Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Hamburg Music Hall, Cologne Philharmonie, in the Gasteig in Munich and the Prince Regent Theater. It also led her to Italy, France, Belgium, Israel, Spain and Japan.

Staatskapelle Halle

The Staatskapelle Halle, founded in 2006 by the merger of the Philharmonic State Orchestra and the orchestra of the opera house, plays both in the concert hall as in the opera house and sets the reaching back to the 19th century tradition of both orchestras continued. Significant conductors such as Horst- Tanu Margraf, Kurt Masur, Klaus Tennstedt, Olaf Koch, Horst Förster, Hartmut Haenchen, Heribert Beissel, Roger Epple, Bernhard Klee, Wolf -Dieter Hauschild and Johan M. Arnell of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, are in their Chronicle received. Since April 2008, Karl- Heinz Steffens is music director.

Leading soloists such as pianist Elena Bashkirova, Daniel Barenboim and Martin Stadtfeld, the violinist Alina Pogostkina and Guy Braunstein, cellist David Geringas, soprano Angela Denoke, baritone Roman Trekel and bassist Robert Holl as well as renowned guest conductors such as Wayne Marshall, Michael Sanderling Oleg Caetani and have in recent times in concert with the Staatskapelle. The playing music on period instruments since 1993 Handel Festival Orchestra Hall forms part of the Staatskapelle. The merger of 319 musicians in 1992 designed the Halle Opera House to 109 musicians to receive the Handel Festival Orchestra and to provide the musicians a period to be formatted again.

The affiliation of musicians to a playing on modern instruments concert and opera orchestra is a uniqueness in the German music scene dar. As a special ensemble for early music is the sound that is directed by Bernhard Forck since 2007, the existing century-long tradition of Handel care Hall continued. In the season 2012/2013 the Handel Festival Orchestra will be involved in the staging of the intermezzo " Dorina e Nibbio " by Domenico Sarro and Lucia Ronchetti at the Semperoper Dresden. Under his musical direction, the Administrative Director Kim Ry Andersen and opera director Dr. Valerie Hennecke, the first federally funded collaborations and guest performances could be done with "no budget". The first cooperation with the Gewandhaus Leipzig and first performance of Handel Festival Orchestra in Leipzig - after 7 years of GDR ban - was the political changes in 1992 the premiere of " ELIAS " the Dutch Handel association with Thomas Quastoff, Miranda van Kralingen and 134 choristers. This is followed by invitations to the Cologne Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Brühl Palace Concerts, Bad Kissingen Summer. Since 1992 concert tours lead the Staatskapelle Halle, inter alia, to Florence, Genoa, Turin, Ravello, Seoul, Strasbourg, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Linz, Cologne, Berlin and the Castle Neuschwanstein concerts, Weilburg Castle concerts and Chorin Music Summer. A special honor was bestowed the Staatskapelle the design of the Federal President concert in September 2012 in the Georg -Friedrich -Händel HALL. In the season 2012/2013 the cyclical performance of the tetralogy " Der Ring des Nibelungen " by Richard Wagner forms in March 2013 in the Opera Hall under the baton of Music Director Karl -Heinz Steffens the climax of the 2010 with the "Rheingold" work begun at Opus magnum in co-production with Ludwigshafen.

Beyond the extensive concert activity and the versatile opera game plan, the Staatskapelle engaged with a wide range in the field of music education for families and students to support the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Saxony- Anhalt in his work phases, maintains new and contemporary music and cooperates with the ambitious Festival PULSE.

The Staatskapelle Halle is characterized also responsible for the interpretation of some soundtracks to video games, such as the German Anno series as well as the Action Game of the Finnish developer Remedy Alan Wake and the composer Petri Alanko for dedicated.

Ensembles

Robert Franz -Sing Academy

The second oldest Singing Academy in Germany is dedicated to the music of Handel. In 1953 the choir merged with the State Symphony Hall.

Stadtsingechor to Hall

The nearly 900 -year-old Stadtsingechor contributes regularly to the Handel Festival.

Collegium instrumental hall

The establishment of the collegium instrumental goes back to the year 1959. It occurred at the Handel Festival in 1964 and was awarded the Handel price. Special Promotion enjoyed the ensemble 1972-1989 under the concertmaster Manfred Otte. A number of guest appearances in Germany, in Switzerland and in Spain is characterized by the orchestra.

Since 1991, Arkadi Marash heads the collegium instrumental.

Handel Festival Orchestra

Integrated into the Staatskapelle Halle is the Handel Festival Orchestra Hall. This special ensemble for early music of the Baroque care in the birthplace of George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) is dedicated and ensures a year for the musical arrangement of the Handel Festival Hall. It is played on period instruments since 1993. Reputation gained the orchestra under the baton of British conductor Howard Arman ( b. 1954 ). The Festival Orchestra staged with the annual Handel operas and plays the opening concert of the Handel Festival. Outside festival season it has in Hall appearances as part of a concert subscriptions and a chamber music series.

Guest appearances of the ensemble were, inter alia, Perelada (Spain ), Innsbruck, Karlsruhe, Cologne, Berlin and Leipzig. In future, South Korea, Belgium and South Tyrol / Italy is traveled. The orchestra collaborates with Nicholas McGegan, Paul McCreesh, Paul Goodwin, Marcus Creed, Michael Schneider and Fabio Biondi. Several CD and DVD recordings were made.

In 2007, Bernhard has Forck (* 1963) taken over as musical director.
