Štefan Füle

Štefan Füle ( born May 24, 1962 in Sokolov ) is a Czech diplomat, former non-party Minister for European Affairs in the fisherman and a member government of the European Commission Barroso II

Life

Füle started in 1980 to study at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague and moved in 1981 to the State Institute of International Relations in Moscow, where he graduated in 1986. From 1982 to 1989 he was a member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. In 1987 he entered the diplomatic service of Czechoslovakia, 1988, he took part in the UN study program for disarmament.

From 1990 to 1995 Füle served as First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic from 1993 to the United Nations. After his return, he was head of the department " International organizations " in the Prague State Department and was involved in the negotiations to join NATO in the Czech Republic. From 1998 to 2001 he served as his country's ambassador in Lithuania and from 2003 to 2005 in the UK. In 2001 and 2002 he was first deputy defense minister Jaroslav Tvrdík. From July 2005 he was Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic with the rank of ambassador to NATO.

Period from 8 to 30 November 2009 Mai Füle was in the government of Jan Fischer Minister for European Affairs. On November 10, 2009, he was nominated by the Czech government as European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, José Manuel Barroso. He took office on 10 February 2010.

Štefan Füle is married and has two daughters and a son.
