Steffen Zühlke

Steffen Zühlke ( born April 28, 1965 in Schwerin ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic. In 1988 he won the Olympic bronze medal with the quadruple sculls.

Zühlke was in 1982 Junior World Champion with the sculls and 1983 Junior World Vice Champion in One. In 1985, he finished in the GDR championships in one second behind Uwe mouth, the following year he was second again, this time behind Andreas Hajek. After Zühlke could win at the World Rowing Championships in 1986 and seventh in 1987 as a fourth with the quadruple sculls no medal, he was successful in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. For winning the bronze medal he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit. In 1987 he was World Champion in One students. The GDR sculls with Jens Koeppen, Steffen Zühlke, Steffen Bogs and Heiko Habermann won bronze behind the boats from Italy and Norway. 1989 occupied Zühlke and Habermann at the GDR championships in double sculls third place. In 1990, Zühlke with the sculls after 1988 his second East German champion.

Zühlke studied in addition to his career electric technology and precision engineering, information technology later. He competed for the SC Dynamo Berlin.
