Stephen Goosson

Stephen Goosson ( born March 24, 1889 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, † March 25, 1973 in Los Angeles, California ) was an Oscar -winning American Designer.

Life

Before Stephen Goosson came to film, he worked in Detroit as an architect. 1919 was followed by his first film work for Lewis J. Selznick. Goosson then worked for several production companies, including Mary Pickford, Frank Lloyd and Cecil B. DeMille. In Columbia Pictures then he remained for 25 years.

Goosson was known for his meticulousness. From the first draft to the final detail work on the film set his work was always extremely detailed. Regardless of the budget, he always laid emphasis on accurate research and authenticity. For over 130 productions Goosson worked from the scene image before in 1955 he retired from the film business. A day after his 85th birthday died Stephen Goosson on March 25, 1973 following a stroke.
