Steve Cotterill

Stephen "Steve" Cotterill ( born July 20, 1964 in Cheltenham, England ) is an English former football player and current coach of the English third division side Bristol City.

Playing career

During his playing career Steve Cotterill acted, inter alia, for FC Wimbledon and AFC Bournemouth. His career has been accompanied by serious injury, which provided in 1995 for the premature end of his players activity.

Coaching career

Sligo Rovers

His first coaching job took Steve Cotterill 1995, the Irish first division club Sligo Rovers and led his team to third place, as well as in the Irish Cup final. After the season, the Rovers in the UEFA Intertoto Cup 1996 took part, but failed against opponents such as the FC Nantes and SC Heerenveen participation in the UEFA Cup. His activities in Sligo ended in September 1996.

Cheltenham Town

On 1 February 1997 he took over his hometown club Cheltenham Town. In 1998 he won with his new team with a 1-0 final win against FC Southport the FA Trophy. In the season 1998/99 Cheltenham won the championship in the Conference National, thus securing promotion to the Football League Third Division. Stoke City and Sunderland AFC
