Stonařov

Stonařov ( German Stannern ) is a patch in Moravia in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers south of the center of Jihlava at the Jihlávka and belongs to Okres Jihlava.

History

Stannern was founded in the late 12th century. It was first documented in 1347, and in 1367 was given the place a city charter. On May 22, 1808 the Town goal of a meteor shower. 1850 had Stannern 2009 inhabitants, but the population declined in the following years. 1900 and 1901 a large fire damaged the city strong. Before the First World War, the town was a popular destination for tourists from Vienna. In the Czechoslovak Republic Stannern the city lost rights. From October 1938 to April 1945 was Stannern to Reichsgau Lower Danube. The German part of the population was 1945/1946 sold. Since 2006, the place is a Městys again.

The Městys Stonařov consists of the districts Sokolíčko ( Sokolov ) and Stonařov ( Stannern ).
