Studebaker Commander

The Studebaker Commander was a car, the Studebaker Corporation in the South Bend (Indiana ) and the Studebaker of Canada Ltd.. manufactured in Hamilton (Ontario). Studebaker used this name since the 1920s and continued this - with interruptions in 1936 and 1959-1963 - continued until 1966. The corresponding models were at different points of the Studebaker model lineup and changed their role sometimes from one year to the next.

Model series

1927-1935

1927 got the middle series the name Commander. These models were previously known as Big Six - known models with short wheelbase. ( In the late 1920s were called the Big Six - models with a long wheelbase President and the standard Six - models were renamed Dictator ). The end of 1935 the Commander fell out of the Studebaker line of products.

1937-1958

1937, the Commander was again included as a successor to the Studebaker Dictator, the cheapest model. In 1939 Studebaker Champion as the smallest model, and as the Commander again landed in the middle class.

After the Second World War, the President models fell away and the Commander slipped in the palette back up. There was also a model with a longer wheelbase, the Land Cruiser.

The Commander series was created using the Custom sub- series also extended downward ( the Commander custom was, in effect, a champion with a V8 engine. Late 1958 the Commander initially fell away.

1964-1966

After the vacation 1963, the Commander name was resurrected and called on the 1964 models, the second- cheapest version of the Lark, where Challenger was the name for the cheapest model. Reception
