Sylvia Jebiwott Kibet

Sylvia Kibet Jebiwott ( born March 28, 1984 in Kapchorwa, Keiyo District, Rift Valley Province) is a Kenyan long-distance runner.

At an early age she was able to show some success. In 1998, she won the title in 3000 -meter run at the African Youth Championships. In 1999, she won the silver medal in the 1500 meter race at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz. 2000 yet was followed by a bronze in the 3000 m at the African Youth Championships. Despite these promising results Kibet decided, for the time being to concentrate on their education. The return to the sport of running in 2003 gave her after the long break and some difficulty was at first not last long, since it was 2004 parent.

It was not until the end of 2005, she launched a new start to their sporting career. In the spring of their victories come when Lagarina Half Marathon, the Nice Half Marathon and the South Tyrolean Spring Half Marathon; after she won bronze in the 5000 -meter run at the Track and Field Championships in Bambous Africa. The following year she was second in the Nice Half Marathon and again won the 10 km- du Conseil Général. At the World Championships in Berlin, it finally managed to run into a medal. About 5000 m they won in 14:58,33 min behind her compatriot Vivian Cheruiyot Jepkemoi silver. At the World Indoor Championships in Doha, she came over 3000m again to fourth place. In the same year she finished second at the Glasgow Women's 10k and picked at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi silver in the 5000m. In 2011 she was again at the World Championships in Daegu 5000m second behind Cheruiyot, 2012, she was at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul for the third time in a row, fourth over 3000 meters.

Sylvia Kibet Jebiwott is 1.57 m tall and weighs 44 kg. Her older sister Hilda Kibet and her cousin Lornah Kiplagat are also successful long distance runners.
