BOclassic

The BOclassic is a road race over 10 km (men) or 5 km ( women), the Bolzano takes place on New Year's Eve since 1975 and is organized by Läuferclub Bolzano. The program of the event includes various student and youth runs and, since 2003, a separate country race over 5 km.

History

The Corrida de São Silvestre Internacional was the model for the race, which is one of Europe's oldest New Year's Eve runs. Initially, only men were allowed and the insurmountable distance was about 13 km. After two years, women were allowed to start, and in 1984 the route was shortened to about 10 km for men and 5 km for women. Since 1987, the present-day course is completed. In 1996 the event received its present name BOclassic.

Best of South Tyrol were previously, which made ​​Christian Leuprecht and Silvia Weissteiner each third place.

Route

All races take place on a 1250 m long round in the center of Bolzano, starting and finishing on the Piazza Walther.
