Sylvia Massy

Sylvia Massy is an American music producer, sound engineer and studio owner.

Biography

During her work at a university radio Massy began to be interested in production technology. After college, she got a job in San Francisco at a recording studio. With her ​​as a sound engineer and producer appeared from 1985 albums of various small local artists. By 1990, she was also involved in albums by, among others, Exodus, Julio Iglesias, Kylie Minogue and Danzig.

Around 1990 Massy moved to Los Angeles, where she was able to celebrate successes with that produced by their band Green Jellÿ. In addition, in Los Angeles began a collaboration with the band Tool. Their EP, produced by Massy opiates and the 1993 published also by their produced album Undertow won both platinum and helped the band and Massy breakthrough. After this success, Massy began collaborations with Rick Rubin and collaborated with musicians such as the Deftones, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, REM, System of a Down and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.
