Tale of Revenge (English, Story of Revenge ' ) is the only single release for the album Iron Finnish Folk-/Viking-Metal-Band Ensiferum, and also the first single of the band ever. It was published on 18 March 2004 by the record label Spinefarm Records.

Genesis

It was recorded the single, as well as the other songs of the album Iron, end of 2003, in the Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen. Recorded, produced and mixed by Flemming Rasmussen it was.

Although publishing in Finland was officially scheduled for 22 March 2004 Tale of Revenge could be purchased in the shops already on March 17.

Well-known guest musicians were not required for the single, with Battery but works with a choir that consists of the following singers:

Cover

The cover artwork shows a bloodied ax head. In the background ice crystals are seen. Was designed the artwork by Kristian Wåhlin.

Criticism

As a result of the rapidly growing awareness Ensiferums, mainly due to the highly successful debut album, Ensiferum, the single was huge paragraph so that it ranked number 7 in March 2004 entry and stay there for 4 weeks was in the Finnish single charts. The reviews of the single fell from yet mixed.

The author Wehrmut voenger.de from the webzine called the song Tale of Revenge as a typical and worth listening to Ensiferum Song; Metallica cover, however as atypical (a comparison is drawn with Manowar ) and uninterresant. So one could buy the single to complete the collection, but it would not really needed.

More positive the conclusion fell to the song Tale of Revenge by Stefan Popp of the Webzine metal1.info from:
