Tamika Catchings

Tamika Devonne Catchings ( born July 21, 1979 in Stratford, New Jersey, United States) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the Indiana Fever in the Women's National Basketball Association as a small forward.

Career

College

Tamika Catchings played as a small forward from 1997 to 2001 for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, the women's basketball team at the University of Tennessee.

Women's National Basketball Association

Catchings was pulled in the WNBA Draft in 2001 by the Indiana Fever in the third position. The 2001 season they had to leave out because of an injury. Thus her WNBA career in 2002 in which she was elected Rookie of the Year began. Catchings has been one of their first season to one of the best player in the WNBA. Therefore, she was elected in 2006 to the All- Decade Team.

Internationally

Catchings won with the U.S. national basketball team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing the gold medal.

Catchings play partially during the season break in the WNBA for the Chicago Blaze in the National Women's Basketball League.
