Teckberg

The Teckberg, often popularly called Teck, is a 775 m above sea level. NHN high mountain witnesses of the Swabian Alb. At the top is the famous castle Teck. Over the hill run its municipal boundaries of the city of Owen, which includes the castle is, and the communities Bissingen an der Teck and Lenningen.
Description
The Teckberg jumps from the escarpment of about 3 km towards the north before and overlooks the Albvorland to 350 m, the Lauter valley to 400 m. It is flanked by the approximately 602 -meter high foothills Hoernle and Hohenbol north or northwest. Both foothills of the Swabian include vents volcano. To the north below the Hörnles is the Segelfluggelände Teck.
The top edge of the slope Teckbergs is formed by the Yellow Rock, a Schwammriff the Jurassic sea of bright lime. Under the Yellow Rock, the 31 m long and 45 m high is Veronika cave, which is connected by columns with Verena - Baggins' hole. East of the Yellow rocks point to the early settlement of Teckbergs three grave mounds from the Hallstatt period ( 800-400 BC). Under the castle Teck is the 35 m long and 9 m high fabled cave Sibyllenloch, compared to the 22 m long Sibyls counter cave. It was not until 1937 when discovered and researched ways construction work in 1977. Excavations in Sibyllenloch 1898/99 over 2000 skeletal remains of cave bear, cave lion, cave hyena and wild horses have been found. So many conclusions on the glacial fauna could be drawn.
Nature reserve
With regulation of the Stuttgart Regional Council on 9 November 1999, the entire Teckberg was reported with an area of 386.0 hectares as a nature reserve ( NSG number 1237 ). Has managed to preserve and promote an exceptionally diverse cultural landscape with extensive heaths, wet and dry meadows, orchards, hedges, forest fringes, alleys, trees, solitary trees, rocks, caves, springs, rare, near-natural forest communities. These habitats provide high quality habitat for a variety of partially endangered plant and animal species. The versatile nature space botanists were able to prove 464 different plant species.
