Terezín (Hodonín District)

Terezín ( Theresienstadt German village) is a village in the Czech Republic. The Moravian wine village located 15 kilometers southwest of Kyjov and belongs to Okres Hodonín.

Geography

The village is located on the creek Čejčský in southwestern Kyjovská pahorkatina and on the east and south-west surrounded by vineyards. To the west lies the river level Trkmanka. Southwest raises the Kobylská skala (264 m). Through the town, the state roads lead 380 of Tuřany after Cejc and 421 of Velkopavlovice after Cejc. Terezin is located on the railway line Cejc - Ždánice on which the passenger was set in 1998.

Neighboring towns are Karlin in the northeast, Hovorany in the east, in the southeast Cejc, Kobylí the southwest, Brumovice in the west and Krumvíř in the northwest.

History

Terezín is among the youngest town in the district Hodonín. The village was established in 1774 during the Teresian reforms and was named in honor of Empress Maria Theresa Theresa village or Terezín. The first settlers came from Hovorany or were immigrants from Croatia, also some French were among them.

The original village was created about 400 m north of the present. In 1796 took place the laying of Terezín, because the present location at the former Kobyler lake had proved unsuitable because of floods and bad water. The first school was built in 1824, it was actually a Kaluppe and in 1871 moved to a new einklassiges village school building. The lake was drained in 1835. In 1889 an amendment to the Czech name in Terezov, which in 1911 was reversed.

1893 was the demolition of dilapidated wooden windmill east of the village. 1900 was a poor fund was founded in place. 1906 began the construction of the 26 km long local railway Cejc - Ždánice, which was opened in 1908. 1922 Trkmanka was regulated. 1930 began construction of the church. The residents of Terezín living from viticulture and agriculture.

Terezín is part of the micro-region Hovoransko, in the village there is a stud. Every year in Terezín instead, an open cellar, which is culturally framed with dulcimer music. The residents maintain the old traditions, especially the Moravian folk costumes.
