Action

The plot of the film is the trial of William Bligh court martial for the loss of the Bounty mutiny by.

In the single action Lieutenant Bligh awarded the contract to deliver breadfruit from Tahiti to Jamaica, to serve as a cheap source of food for the slaves on the plantations there. Bligh is driven by personal ambition, he wants to make sure with this order, he wants to perform in the shortest possible time, name, and so in the Royal Navy career. On the way, he still proves to be quite affable and eager to please his team. His first mate, the equally ambitious John Fryer, but he can already feel from the beginning his rejection. This culminates in the ( illegal ) degradation Fryers after the circumnavigation of Cape Hoorn has failed and Bligh blames him for it. Instead Fryer is now the second mate Fletcher Christian, who is friends with Bligh appointed First Officer.

On arrival in Tahiti they are received by the chief and the people friendly, the plants of the bread trees be granted to them. This displeased Blighs they need to stay longer than planned, as the plants in the current stage of growth are not transportable. The crew, meanwhile, developed relationships - especially to young women - and learns a free life without the constraints and limitations to know at sea. The love of Fletcher Christian Especially is presented to a young chief's daughter. Bligh worries rightly that the discipline of his team goes under the lure of this island paradise gradually lost. It comes to first differences between Christian and Bligh, which Fryer observed with satisfaction. Finally, three of the sailors dare to escape from the ship. However, they are found, and although the train is on desertion, Bligh lets them flogged. Since all plants required are now on board, Bligh gives the order to leave.

On the way back from Tahiti to Bligh became increasingly neurotic and harassed the crew and Christian, for example, with exaggerated cleanliness requirements, on charges of theft and abuse. As Bligh re driving Cape Hoorn announced and will be a sailor who protested, flogged, it comes to escalation. Christian, of his mistress in Tahiti can not forget and the harassment has had enough, lets himself be persuaded by the crew to mutiny. Bligh and most people who do not want mutiny are exposed in a boat. Bligh succeeds in spite of severe hardships, to keep true to his boat's crew, and so they finally reach Timor and from there from England. Christian drives the majority of the crew back to Tahiti. Because he knows that the British Navy is searching here and the chief who knows the seriousness of the situation, denying them the right to stay, he must sail. Some of the women, including Fletcher's mistress count, and some islanders accompany them. How to reach the island of Pitcairn, which is shown correctly on any map, and thus hard to find. The Bounty is plugged and sunk on fire.

The internal action ends, Bligh is "not guilty" declared by court-martial for.

Reviews

" The colorful, dazzling remake of Roger Donaldson (' No Way Out ', ' Getaway' ) is indeed quite a successful film adaptation of the classic Mutiny substance by true events, but compared to the two predecessors from 1935 and 1962, despite the good cast nothing new to offer and shows Captain Bligh as a gifted sailor, but lousy supervisor.
