The Gaslight Anthem

The Gaslight Anthem are an American punk / indie / alternative rock band from New Brunswick.

Band History

The Gaslight Anthem was founded in 2005. Their first album, Sink or Swim was released in the summer of 2007 on the independent label XOXO Records. In May 2008, the EP Señor and the Queen followed. In Germany, both recordings were released on Gunner Records. The sequel to The '59 Sound, was produced by Ted Hutt, a founding member of Flogging Molly, published by SideOneDummy and reached number 70 in the U.S. album charts. On this album can be heard as a guest singer, among others Chris Wollard of Hot Water Music. In June 2008, the band managed on the cover of British music magazine Kerrang, featuring the slogan The Best New Band You'll Hear In 2008! being used. The album The '59 Sound was chosen by the magazine Visions on the third place of the 50 best albums of the year 2008.

2010 came The Gaslight Anthem tour of their third studio album, American Slang on among others the Hurricane Festival, Southside Festival, Highfield Festival and at Area 4. Moreover, they were in the fall of 2010 on a European tour with support from Chuck Ragan and Sharks. In 2011 she appeared inter alia on the Centerstage at Rock am Ring and the Vainstream Rockfest in Münster on .. During their tour in 2012 upon the publication of commercially extremely successful record Handwritten they were accompanied in Germany from Blood Red Shoes and Dave home.

Have an influence on their music, as stated by the band, including Bruce Springsteen, as well as punk rock bands like the Bouncing Souls. In Allmusic it is compared with Hot Water Music and Jawbreaker.
