The Lost Crowes is a 2006 double album posted to the Black Crowes. It is a compilation of material not previously published two studio albums, tall and ribbon. All titles of both sessions were written by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson. The new compound in 2006 took over the Briton Paul Stacey, who joined shortly thereafter as a guitarist with the Black Crowes.

Tall

After the band spent the end of 1993 with samples and pre-production, they started after the Christmas break in January 1994 with the recording of the album Tall. The Robinson brothers discovered a few weeks after the end of the recording session that the album lacked a climax. Therefore, they decided to go again with the band into the studio and record some more pieces. Ultimately, most of the songs were re-recorded and Amorica on the album. published. The bands of the Tall sessions disappeared into the archives and circulated as bootlegs in fan circles.

Band

After the tour for the album Three Snakes and One Charm, the band recorded in May / June 1997, the album on tape, which was not indeed published, but finished mixed on non- formal way into the hands of the fans in 2002. After the summer tour 1997 Guitarist Marc Ford was fired and bassist Johnny Colt left the band. This is according to Chris Robinson but not reason for non-publication was. Rather, the record company was not convinced of the material. After the official release as part of The Lost Crowes band was ( which differs in the mix and track selection from the 2002 popular version, slightly) by the critics highly praised and considered among the best recordings of the Black Crowes.

  • If It Ever Stops Raining was released in 1998 with new chorus text as the title track of the album By Your Side.
  • Peace Anyway was released in a new version as a B- side of the By- Your- Side single.

The Nashville Sessions

  • The Band Bootleg circulated among the alternative name The Band Sessions and The Nashville Sessions. The latter made ​​reference to the alleged shooting place in Tennessee, where, however, according to the CD booklet titles only 6 and 8 and the overdubs of the guest musicians were taken.
  • The song lists between bootleg and Lost Crowes version differ in selection and sequence: The pieces Only a Fool ( later appeared on By Your Side and as a sinlge ) and Smile ( later B-side of Only a Fool ) were omitted, Peace Anyway was added and OK By Me was renamed Grinnin.
  • Under the title The Band Rehearsals ( Rehearsals = sample ) reached the end of 2003 another session material with other pieces to the " public". In contrast to the ready-mixed band bootleg exists only one mono mix here also missing overdub tracks.
