Theodore B. Werner

Theodore B. Werner ( born June 2, 1892 in Ossian, Winneshiek County, Iowa, † January 24, 1989 in Rapid City, South Dakota ) was an American politician.

Werner moved in 1909 to Rapid City in South Dakota. There, he worked in the newspaper and printing industry and was editor and publisher of Gate City Guide since 1912. From 1915 to 1923, Werner was the head of a post office of Rapid City. In the years 1929 and 1930 he held the office of mayor of the city.

After Werner had in 1930 unsuccessfully running for a seat in the House of Representatives of the United States, but he succeeded at the next election, to be elected to Congress. There, the Democrat from March 4, 1933 took until January 3, 1937 the state of South Dakota. In the 1936 elections he was defeated by Republican Francis H. Case. Then Werner worked again in the newspaper industry, and sat down to rest in 1965.
