Thomas J. Pickard

Thomas J. Pickard ( born 1950 ) is a former American government official who temporarily as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officiated.

Biography

After school he studied at Saint Francis College in Brooklyn and at St. John's University in New York.

He then in 1975 the FBI employees and increased there during his service on 1 November 1999 as Deputy Director ( Deputy Director ) on. As such, it was after the surprise resignation of Louis Freeh on 25 June 2001 as Acting Director ( Acting Director) appointed by the FBI. He held until September 4, 2001 This position.

Before the Commission on the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 Pickard stated that he had previously asked Attorney General John Ashcroft to raise funds for the fight against terrorism, what Ashcroft had refused. On 4 September 2001 he retired from the service of the FBI.

He subsequently moved into the private sector and since 2002 has been director of security of the pharmaceutical company Bristol -Myers Squibb.
