James Comey

James Brien Comey, Jr. ( born December 14, 1960 in Yonkers, New York) is an American lawyer, business managers and government officials. Since 4 September 2013, is director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Previously, he was Deputy Minister of Justice (U.S. Attorney General ) of the United States.

Life

After schooling Comey studied chemistry and religion at the College of William & Mary and finished this study in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science (BS Chemistry and religion). A subsequent post-graduate studies in law at the Law School of the University of Chicago, he graduated in 1985 with a Juris Doctor ( JD ) from.

After he was staff of the Legal Services Board of the National Legal Center for the Public Interest and then entered 1987 in the U.S. Department of Justice a, where he was until 1993 deputy head of the Department of Criminal Law ( Criminal Division ) for the Southern District of New York.

After a subsequent work as a professor at the University of Richmond, he was between 2002 and 2003 the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. After Comey, a member of the Republican Party was being from 2003 to 2005 as the U.S. Deputy Attorney General Deputy Attorney General of the United States.

He was senior vice president and chief legal adviser to the defense and technology company Lockheed Martin in 2005. He then moved to the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates. Since the beginning of 2013 he was a professor at Columbia University in New York City.

In March 2011, his Carter O. Lowance Fellowship was awarded by the William & Mary College.

In May 2013 Barack Obama Comey suggested as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, because it is supported by both the Democrats as well as Republicans. His nomination was confirmed in July 2013 in the Senate of the United States; he took up his new post on September 4, 2013, the last working day of his predecessor Robert Mueller.
