William S. Sessions

William Steele Sessions ( born May 27, 1930 in Fort Smith, Arkansas) is an American lawyer and former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Biography

After visiting the North East High School in Kansas City, he began in 1948 to study at Baylor University in Waco. In 1952, he interrupted his studies and his military service in the U.S. Air Force. He then continued his studies in 1955 and acquired in 1956 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). A subsequent post-graduate studies in law at Baylor University he graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ) from.

After qualifying as a lawyer, he worked for several years as a lawyer before he was 1971-1974 federal prosecutor. He later acted between December 1974 and November 1987 as a judge at the Federal District Court for the Western District of Texas. Most recently, he worked from 1980 to 1987, President ( Chief Judge ) of this federal district court.

On November 2, 1987 William S. Sessions was appointed director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He continued in this position until July 19, 1993. Upon retiring from government service, he joined the private sector and became a member of the Board of Directors of Zenith National Insurance, an insurance company with total assets of $ 1.3 billion and is based in Woodland Hills.
