The current version of the TNA title belt

The TNA World Heavyweight Championship ( to German TNA World Heavyweight Title ) is the most important wrestling title for individual wrestlers of the American promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. It was introduced on 13 May 2007 as a replacement for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. As in Wrestling common practice the allocated according to a predetermined storyline.

History

The NWA Championship was conducted from the inception of TNA in May 2002 as the highest championship of the league. However, since the title defenses over time became increasingly rare in the NWA territories, that is, outside of TNA shows, the National Wrestling Alliance decided with TNA not to renew the contract expiring in May 2007. The cooperation with the NWA ended on May 13, 2007, the date of the PPV Sacrifice, and the same day the former title holder Christian Cage from NWA- committee of the title was denied.

TNA presented a day later, the newly created TNA World Heavyweight Championship with Kurt Angle as the first title holder after his victory at Sacrifice, but the title was declared vacant on the same evening. Since then, this title provides the highest individual title of the League dar.

The Impact tapings on November 8, 2010, which are first broadcast on November 12 on TV, a new title belt from Hulk Hogan was introduced to match the new champion of the grouping Immortal, Jeff Hardy.

On 17 March 2011, the World Heavyweight Champion Sting presented a new title belt. This was replaced on 18 October 2012 by Jeff Hardy through a modified version of the Immortal belt.

Current title holder

On December 3, 2013 Magnus won a Dixieland -Match ( Cage / Ladder Match ) against Jeff Hardy at Impact Wrestling: Final Resolution to the TNA World Heavyweight Title. This was declared on 29 October 2013 TNA President Dixie Carter vacant. Since the previous title holder AJ Styles said that he will leave TNA with the title.
