Tomasz Pochwała

Tomasz Pochwała ( born May 7, 1983 in Zakopane ) is a Polish ski jumpers and Nordic combined.

Career

Ski Jumping

Tomasz Pochwała began with eleven ski jumping at his home club TS Wisla Zakopane and completed his first international jumping on 5 August 2000 as part of the Summer Grand Prix 2000 in Hinterzarten. In the team competition, he reached the 9th place together with Adam Malysz, Robert Mateja and Wojciech Skupień. On January 6, 2001, he played on the large hill in Bischofshofen first time a World Cup competition, which he finished on the 46th place. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2001 in Lahti, Finland, he reached the 5th place in the team competition. Already in his second World Cup competition on 23 November 2001 in Kuopio he could reach World Cup points after he had jumped on the large hill on the 29th place for the first time. After he jumped several times in the points during the season, he finished the World Cup season 2001/ 02 at the 53rd place in the overall standings.

At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City he reached on the normal hill the 40th, on the large hill and the 43rd in the team jumping the 6th Place. After several World Cup competitions with very variable results, he was in the squad for the Ski Flying World Championships 2002 in Harrachov, where he finished in 31st place at the end. After the 2002/03 season began only mediocre, Pochwała was removed from the A-National squad and jumped from 1 January 2003 in the Continental Cup. On January 18 he jumped again as part of the National Group in the World Cup competition in Zakopane, but could only occupy rearmost seats after successful qualification.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2003 in Val di Fiemme, Italy, he came on the 39th place not out on the normal hill. So he jumped to continue in the Continental Cup and was appointed only to the team competition in the World Cup squad. In between, he also jumped in unterklassigen FIS Cup and FIS races. In 2006 he was appointed again in the A-National squad and jumped at the World Cup competition on January 21, 2006 in Sapporo in the first competition on the 38th and in the second event on the 48th. It was his last assignment so far in the World Cup.

Nordic Combined

Since January 10 2009 Tomasz Pochwała starts for the AZS AWF Katowice in the Continental Cup Nordic Combined and reached there on several occasions rankings in the top 20, he was already qualified for the World Cup race in Klingenthal 15 February 2009, entered but not to.
