Competition

The training had to be postponed several times also on Friday. The longest jump was the Finn Veli -Matti Lindström with 205 meters.

After the first round of the German Sven Hanna forest was with a jump on 202 meters and 197.4 meters in the lead. In second place was Finland's Matti Hautamäki who came to 202.5 meters ( 193.0 points) ahead of his compatriot Veli -Matti Lindström (191 meters and 182.2 points). In the first round two athletes jumped over the 200 -meter mark.

In the second round Hanna forest was again able to fly on 202 meters and thus secure the first rank ( 396.3 points). With exactly the same length followed in second place teammate Martin Schmitt with 368.3 points. On the third and fourth place followed by the two Finns Matti Hautamäki ( 363.4 points) and Veli -Matti Lindström ( 362.8 points) ahead of Simon Ammann ( 360.0 points) from Switzerland.

On the night of Sunday drew an intense low with peaks up to 20 meters in the second over the Czech Republic. On Sunday was therefore canceled due to snowstorm and strong wind gusts of up to 70 km / h, the second day of competition at the Devil's Mountain.

Since the World Cup 2002 Sven Hanna Forest is the first jumper who could defend his title at the Ski Flying World Championships. The curious thing was that Hanna Forest had won in 2000 in Vikersund the title after just one day of flying.
