FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 2006

The Ski Flying World Cup 2006 was organized by the International Ski Federation FIS from 12 to 15 January at Kulm in Bad Mitterndorf / Tauplitz. In addition to the individual competition, which consisted of four held over two days passes, also a team competition was organized.

The individual competition was the defending champion Roar Ljøkelsøy from Norway win in front of the two Austrians Andreas Widhölzl and Thomas Morgenstern. The team competition was the Norwegian team to decide for themselves which places two and three went to Finland and Germany.

In the qualification on January 12, discharged the starting field was reduced to 40 jumpers from 14 countries. After the first competition round was again reduced to 30 jumpers from 11 countries. For team competition featured nine Nations and consisting of four skydivers team.

After the first round of the Austrian Andreas Widhölzl was in front, but already in the second round, the defending champion Roar Ljøkelsøy from Norway could take the lead, which he held until the end of the championship. The longest flight showed the Austrian Thomas Morgenstern 210,5 m me in the fourth round.

The favored team of Austria in advance only reached fourth place after Andreas Kofler ended in the first round at only 95 meters. The furthest flights showed Slovene Robert Kranjec who ever reached 207.0 m in both rounds.
