Toni Lydman

Toni Lydman Petteri ( born September 25, 1977 in Lahti ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who was active for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League last.

Career

Lydman is from the offspring of the Finnish Ice Hockey Club Reipas Lahti, for whom he played in various youth teams. He was selected as the 89th overall in the NHL Entry Draft in 1996 by the leaders of the Calgary Flames in the fourth round, but played four more years in the Finnish SM- liiga for Tappara and Helsingfors IFK Helsinki. In the season 2000/ 01 he then gave his NHL debut for the Flames.

His best season in the Flames jersey he had in 2001/ 02 when he scored six goals and 22 assists. In the following season he was the best point defender of the Flames with 26 points scorer and stayed the whole season injury free, so that he missed only one game due to a cold. The Calgary Flames reached the final of the Stanley Cup 2003 / 04, but Lydman missed a big part of the playoff games due to injury. During the lockout in the 2004/05 season he returned to HIFK Helsinki, but could only be used in eight games. After returning to Calgary, he was transferred on 25 August 2005 from the Flames to the Buffalo Sabres, which it received a third -round pick in the NHL Entry Draft in 2006. On 1 July 2010 he signed a temporary three -year contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

Toni Lydman represented his country at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1995 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 1996 and 1997. He also played for Finland at the World Cup of Hockey in 2004, the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 and 2010.
