Tony Hrkac

Anthony J. Hrkac (* July 7, 1966 in Thunder Bay, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the St. Louis Blues, Quebec Nordiques, San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Atlanta Thrashers in the National Hockey League.

Career

Hrkac began his career from 1982 to 1984 in the Canadian junior leagues unterklassigen. In the summer of 1984 he moved to the University of North Dakota to deny there while studying for the University of team games in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. He left college after one year and spent the following season with the Canadian national team. For the 1986/87 season the Canadians returned to the University of North Dakota and led the team with his 116 points in 48 games to win the national championship. Hrkac itself was with awards, including the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, showered for the best college player of the year.

That same season he committed the St. Louis Blues, who had chosen him already in the NHL Entry Draft in 1984 in the second round, 32nd place for the playoffs. From the season 1987/88 the Centre then belonged to the permanent staff of the NHL squad the Blues before he first was part of a transfer of business in the course of the season 1989/90 and was delivered to the Quebec Nordiques. After one and a half years in the French-Canadian metropolis, he was transferred to the San Jose Sharks newly founded, which in turn sent him a short time to the Chicago Blackhawks. Since the Canadians received no permanent place in the NHL squad there as well as in San Jose, he returned as a free agent in the summer of 1993 to the St. Louis Blues back. This put him in the season 1993/94 in only 36 games, and it was not until the 1997/98 season before Hrkac, this time in the jersey of the Dallas Stars, again played an NHL game. As a result, he moved several times the team due to transfer transactions, placements on the waiver list and contracting as a free agent. He belonged between 1997 and 2004, the year when he finished his career, in addition to the Dallas Stars, the organizations of the Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators, New York Islanders, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Atlanta Thrashers on. In his career Hrkac graduated 758 NHL games and recorded 371 points.

In the summer of 2007 Hrkac took over the post of coach at Concordia University Wisconsin, who had decided in September 2006 to take up ice hockey in their sports.

At the end of the 2008/ 09 Tony Hrkac returned as an active player when he was taken by the Houston Aeros of the AHL under contract. With the Aeros, he reached the playoff semifinals. After this success, he paused again. In March 2010, he signed a contract again with the Houston Aeros.
