Topi Jaakola

Topi Jaakola (* November 15, 1983 in Oulu ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Lev Prague in the Kontinental Hockey League since May 2013.

Career

Topi Jaakola already played at youth level for Kärpät Oulu, for his professional team, he made ​​his debut in the SM- liiga in the 2000 /01 season. In 2002 NHL Entry Draft, he was selected in the fifth round as the 134th overall player of the Florida Panthers, for whom he never played, however. In his eight years at Kärpät the defender has won with the team during the years 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, four times the champion title in the SM- liiga, was runner-up in 2003 and 2006 third. He also reached Kärpät in the years 2005 and 2006, twice the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup, but the team is each subject the two Russian representatives HK Avangard Omsk and Dynamo Moscow HK. In the summer of 2008 Jaakola left the club and signed a contract with Södertälje SK in the Swedish Elitserien. In Södertälje, he played two seasons with the team and managed in each of the Kvalserien the league before Jaakola for season 2010/11 was awarded a contract with Luleå HF.

In the 2012/13 season he played for Amur Khabarovsk in the Kontinental Hockey League before moving within the league for HC Lev Prague in May 2013.

Internationally

For Finland Jaakola took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2001 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2002 and 2003. In all three tournaments he won the bronze medal with his team.
