Toshihiko Seko

Toshihiko Seko (Japanese瀬 古 利 彦, Toshihiko Seko, born July 15, 1956 in Kuwana ) is a former Japanese long-distance runner, who scored in the 1980s to the world's best marathon runners.

Four times he won the Fukuoka Marathon (1978-1980, 1983) and the Boston Marathon twice (1981, 1987). He also won the Tokyo International Women's Marathon 1983, the London and Chicago Marathon 1986. Winning the Lake Biwa Marathon 1988, he was the third time Japanese Masters ( before he had the title with his wins in Fukuoka 1979 and 1983 won ).

In the Olympics, he could not quite match these successes. 1984 Los Angeles Marathon, he finished in 14th place in Seoul in 1988, he was ninth.

In 1981 he presented within a race two world records on the track. He ran 30,000 meters in 1:29:18,8 h and passed on the way the 25,000 -meter mark in 1:13:55,8 h Both records had more than 30 years in hand, before she of the Kenyans Moses Cheruiyot Mosop were broken.
