Toshiko Kowada

Toshiko Kowada (Japanese小 和田 敏 子, Kowada Toshiko; b. 1949 ), married Takeuchi (竹 内), is a former Japanese table tennis player. It was 1969 World Champion in singles.

Toshiko Kowada acted as an offensive player, but the security was almost about everything. So they did not wore down opposing defenders around by the force of their blows or their spin, but above all by the fact that their subverted simply no mistakes in their controlled topspin. Sporting successes

At their first participation in a World Cup in Munich in 1969, did not compete in China, Toshiko Kowada won the final of the individual against the East German player Gabriele Geissler and became World Champion. They also won bronze in mixed doubles with Shigeo Ito and the Japanese women's team. At the next World Cup 1971 in Nagoya they won gold with the team. In individual she left in the round of 16. In the doubles and mixed doubles final stop was in the quarterfinals.

In the Asian Championships ( Asian Championship TTFA ) she came in 1968 in doubles (with Sachiko Morisawa ), mixed and with the team to the final. In 1970, she won the singles and mixed competition ( with Nobuhiko Hasegawa ) with the team they finished second.

1969 and 1970 it was listed in the ITTF World Ranking at number one.

Profession

Since her marriage Kowada operates under the name Toshiko Takeuchi. She works as a professor of sport and health at Chūkyō University. Along with co-authors, she published a number of research results, such as:
