Cao Yanhua

Cao Yanhua (Chinese曹 燕华/曹 燕华, Pinyin Cao Yanhua; born December 1, 1962) is a Chinese table tennis player. In the 1980s, she won the world title seven times.

World Championships

Cao Yanhua plays in the penholder style. Between 1979 and 1985 she participated in four World Cups with the following result:

  • World Cup 1979 victory with the team quarterfinals in double
  • World Cup 1981: Second place in the singles, winning the title in doubles (with Zhang Deying ) and with the team. Insiders believe that their defeat in the final against Ling Tong was arranged by team order by the Chinese leadership.
  • World Cup 1983 title win in singles and with the team
  • World Cup 1985 title win in singles and mixed ( with Cai Zhenhua ), silver in the doubles with Ni Xialian

End of career

In 1985 she went with her husband to Japan, a year later she finished her international career and began studying at the Jiaotong University in Shanghai.

In 1987 she moved to Germany and played in the Women's Bundesliga until 1992 when VSC 1862 Donauwörth. She then moved to SG Marßel ​​Bremen, where it could be but not used because of pregnancy .. In 1999 she founded in Shanghai a table tennis school ( Cao Yanhua table tennis school ).

Cao Yanhua is married to Shi Zhihao ( Team World Champion 1981).
