The Triumph 1500 was awarded the front-drive chassis of the Triumph 1300 and whose body, but got another vehicle front with dual headlights and a long rear of the vehicle with horizontal taillights and a larger trunk. The interior has also been revised and received a redesigned instrument panel and door panels, but remained with their upper parts in real wood. The four-cylinder in-line engine was enlarged to 1493 cc and was provided with a single SU carburettor, 61 bhp (45 kW). All four wheels were suspended on helical springs, the front wheels separately.

In 1972, output rose by a larger carburetor and a modified intake tract to 65 bhp (48 kW). These later cars can be recognized by a silver plaque on the front of the vehicle, while the earlier models have a black one.

1500 TC

In October 1973, the Triumph 1500 through the 1500 TC was replaced.
