Triumph TR1 / 20TS

The Triumph TR1 was a 1952 Earls Court Motor Show in London imagined prototype of the British car manufacturer Triumph. From the Roadster first 20TS mentioned only one copy was built. The price quoted was £ 555 He served as the base of the Triumph TR2

The prototype was assembled from components from other vehicles. The engine came from the Standard Vanguard, the suspension of the Triumph Mayflower and the chassis from the Flying Nine. The body design was by Englishman Walter Belgrove.

The prototype never went into series production, but has been further developed in TR2. Today it is assumed that the vehicle no longer exists, and parts of it were used in the construction of the prototype TR2.

Problems appeared during driving by the bad handling. The limited top speed of 130 km / h disappoint those interested. The British test and race driver Ken Richardson called him a death trap ( death trap ). Richardson later took over the development of the successor type TR2.
