Tuchořice

Tuchořice ( German Tuchorschitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located about nine miles south-east of Saaz and belongs to Okres Louny in northern Bohemia.

Geography

The village is located south of the highway from Žatec ( Saaz ) to Louny ( Laun ) at the foot of Džbán or Dzbanberge with the elevations Haidhübel, Pandurahöhe, Výrov ( High Guck ) and Markwaretzer height. Neighboring towns are in the northwest Dubčany and Libesice, Lipno in the north, the east and Markvarec Třeskonice in the south. The area is characterized by valuable agricultural soils on which particular hops is cultivated.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from the year 1239, as a Wladyke Adam of Tuchorschitz had its headquarters here. Until 1792 Tuchorschitz belonged to the school district Liebeschitz. In the vicinity of the town many tombs have been found from the Stone Age in a limestone quarry, also finds from the Bronze Age ( Lusatian and La Tène culture) were made.

The village belonged to the district of Saaz.

The municipality consists of the villages Tuchořice Nečemice ( Netschenitz ) Třeskonice ( Treskonitz ) and Tuchořice ( Tuchoritz ), at the same time also form Katastralbezirke.
