Tunisia men's national volleyball team

The Tunisian national volleyball team of men is a selection of the best Tunisian players representing the Fédération Tunisienne de Volley -Ball in international tournaments and international matches.

History

World cup

1970 Tunisia was there for the first time at a World Volleyball Championship, but did not place 22. Four years later, the result with rank 18 was slightly better, but in 1978 was Tunisia, only the last place among 24 teams. Also in 1982 Tunisia was placed as 21st among the also-rans. After a long break, the Tunisians returned to the 2002 World Cup back and reached number 19 in 2006 in Japan there was with the move into the second round and rank 15 the best result.

Olympic games

At the first Olympic participation in 1972 in Munich Tunisia was last behind the hosts Germany. 1984 Los Angeles managed the Tunisians as ninth best result so far. With the other three appearances in 1988, 1996 and 2004, there was a twelfth and eleventh two places.

African Cup of Nations

The first Africa Cup took place in 1967 in Tunisia and the hosts won against Algeria the title. In 1971, Tunisia defend the title against the hosts Egypt. When the continental championship in 1976 again took place in Tunisia, Egypt succeeded in the rematch. But Tunisia 1979 African champions for the third time, this time against Libya. In 1983 she had to leave the trophy to the Egyptians in the country, but in 1987 ( the final against Cameroon) brought the Tunisians the title back into his own country. In 1989, she missed the first time a tournament, 1991, she finished third. After they were not there in 2001, the Tunisians defeated the duration rivals Egypt in the country, but from 2005 to 2013 triumphed again the Egyptians.

World Cup

The Tunisians took first time in 1969 at the World Cup and was part twelfth. In 1981 they succeeded in eighth, the best result that they could repeat in 1991. After that Tunisia was always there, but was not ranked eleventh out.

Tunisia takes part in the first 2014 World League.
