Tunuyán Department

The department Tunuyán lies in the west of the province of Mendoza in western Argentina and is one of 18 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the Department of Tupungato, in the east and south by the department of San Carlos and to the west by Chile.

The capital of the department of the same name is Tunuyán Tunuyán. It is located 1175 km from Buenos Aires.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population increased from 42,125 inhabitants (2001) to 44 048 inhabitants in 2005.
