Tureň

Tureň (Slovak to 1948 " Zonctureň "; Hungarian Zonctorony ) is a municipality in Okres Senec within the Bratislavský kraj in Slovakia.

Geography

Tureň located in the Danube lowland on the right bank of the Čierna voda ( black water) and on a tributary of the Little Danube. The city Senec is located 5 km to the north and the capital, Bratislava located 25 km to the west.

To the municipality next to the main town of the district also includes Zonc (1943 amalgamated ). South of the village is also the settlement Slanica.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1252 as Chondol writing. Also, the district Zonc was also mentioned in this year as Zwnch. Both were agricultural communities. Tureň belonged to the administration of the then Pressburger chapter while Zonc was a manor of Pressburg.

Until 1918, all places were in the county Pressburg in the Kingdom of Hungary, after which he joined the newly formed Czechoslovakia. Because of the First Vienna Award were all places in 1938-45 again in Hungary. Under the Hungarian rule the two places were Tureň (Hungarian until then Dunatorony ) and Zonc 1943 united to form a double place, the double name was shortened in 1948, the two villages but remained united.
